Kites Overhead - In the Shadow of the Mountain
[NS024] No-Source Netlabel

This split release features two short EPs by two up and coming musicians. Both releases are wonderful and work well on their own just as they fit together as one.

boletes is Roy Gornall of Scotland. boletes' Hunnibug EP floats and crescendos through four tracks of ambient folk. His music conjures a Red House Painters style of other-worldly folk music. Roy captivates the listener in his world with soft guitars, electronic spacial reflections, and soft lyrics of mysticism. The solemn tunes could easily share the same space within Boduf Songs' world. bolelets - Hunnibug EP is released in conjunction with Forest Records -

Kites Overhead is Gene Kondusky of Canada. His music is guitar and electronic focused post-rock with a strong emphasis on melody and textural loops. Kites Overhead is not a Mogwai clone though. With a wide variety of influences, Gene's music stands on its own, sounding as a mix between The Album Leaf and Death Cab For Cutie. Each track in “In the Shadow of the Mountain” has an introspective approach, inviting the listener to seek their own way. Tracks 1 and 2 also appear on the album: “You are a secret, and you must never tell it” available at . “In the Shadow of the Mountain” and “Thaw” are © 2010 E.M. Kondusky / Home Is Not Here. Composed by Gene Kondusky. “Grand Canyon” is written by Stephin Merritt, and © 1999 S. Merritt. Published by Gay and Loud (ASCAP).
